D. K. GUPTA : Guides & organises courses for physicians interested in learning phacoemulsification and small incision cataract surgery at different Traininging Clinics / Centers. Mr Gupta has organised Phaco / Lasik Training Programs for more than 500 ophthalmalogists from India, USA, France, Germany, Italy, Middle East & South East Asian countries.

The Hands-on Phaco-training is conducted by Dr. Nirav Patel, M.S. and Dr. Mital N. Patel, M.S. at Advanced Eye Care Clinic. The Clinic is equipped with one of the most advanced US FDA approved fully auto Equipments like Zeiss OPMI MDO Operating Microscope with XY Zoom & Observer side tube for training and the AMO Sovereign White Star Phacoemulsifier, Motorized OT Table for temporal phaco incision, Canon Japan Auto-refrectometer Keratometer and Chair unit. For diagnostic purposes, we have a Slit Lamp with imageing, as well as a Sonomed A Scan, in addition to many other facilities. Dr. Patel has trained more than 300 ophthalmologists from India and from abroad.

The center offers several courses for the practising physicians, interested in learning phacoemulsification, small incision cataract surgery and Laser DCR (Dacryocystorhinostomy).

Short Term Intensive Course : The short term course allows the trainee to perform operations on about 20 eyes, under the supervision and guidance of the clinic surgeons over a period of 10 days. The trainee will learn incision architecture, capsulorhexis, hydisssection and hydro dileaneation, nucleus sculpting and division, various phaco techniques, cortical cleanup, as well as lens implantation. While the trainee will perform the surgery, the experienced consultant and teacher will be on hand to guide the trainee at each step, and to take over surgery if there is a likelihood of a problem. Each procedure will be taped, and the tape reviewed along with the experienced surgeon. If there is a perceived need, didactic lectures will also be taken every evening.

Month Long Intensive Phaco Course : This will be similar to the short term course, except that the number of eyes that the trainee will get to operate on will be 60, of which 20 will be unsupervised (in case the senior consultant is satisfied). At the end of this course, it is expected that the trainee will master the technique of phacoemulsification, and will be in a position to do surgery independently.

Laser DCR Workshop : Watering eyes caused by blockage of the lacrimal duct is a relatively common condition, particularly amongst the elderly. The traditional method of treatment is an external, surgical removal of the stenosis. This is a lengthy, difficult procedure allied with considerable side effects for the patient. We run a 2 days Course with hands on training on a revolutionary new way of performing DCR with Laser. Unique advantages of the Laser DCR procedure include a lower recurrance rate, an extremely short procedure with zero patient down time and no bleeding. The course is geared to help those ophthalmologists who intend to perform DCR with laser. The course is conducted by highly experienced faculty members and includes hands-on surgery. Our Principals have developed a patented Laser DCR application set which turns the re-opening of the lacrimal duct into a safer and minimally invasive procedure. The treatment can be performed under local anaesthetic and leaves no visible scar. It is a 5 minutes procedure with Zero patient down time, lower recurrence rate, and no postoperative bleeding.

Glaucoma Surgery Workshop : The surgical management of glaucoma is offered to patients if drug therapies have not been satisfactory or are inappropriate. There are two types of surgical treatment: those using a laser and those using surgical techniques. We conduct a One Week Workshop with hands on training in Glaucoma Surgery / Filtering Surgery. This will cover Surgical ( Trabeculectomy with Releasable Suture ), Investigation ( Applanation Tonometry, Gonioscopy, Automated Perimetr ) and YAG Laser Peripheral Iridectomy.

Intensive Lasik Course : Lasik has become one of the fastest growing and most popular medical procedures. More than 4 million people worldwide have undergone Lasik, and it is not difficult to visualize a world free from spectacles and contact lenses.

( London) from Ajwani Eye Hospital at Bhopal, having vast surgical experience of more than 30 years in Lasik & Phaco, are one of the pioneers of laser vision correction in India. has treated over 10,000 Eyes for Lasik and 30,000 for Phaco, and pioneered several laser vision correction procedures in India, including LASIK, Topolink LASIK, Wave front Guided LASIK and LASEK.

If you wish to attend a Personalised / Individual Training Program to perform many more surgery, it can be arranged at our AEH Bhopal Clinic at any time as per your convenience with mutual consent & prior appointment. 10 - 15 Eyes can be done within 3 - 4 days or within a week max. ( Mon - Friday ). A Certificate of your participation for the Lasik Training Program is given at the end of the Course.
